CHESTNUTWOLD’S 6TH ANNUAL VARIETY SHOW

FRIDAY, MARCH 9th, 2012

HAVERFORD HIGH SCHOOL 6:30 PM

Lights, Camera, Action!  Who’s got TALENT??!!

Calling All Chestnutwold Students!   The Variety Show Committee is looking for Chestnutwold students with talents and skills of all kinds!  We’re looking for joke tellers, jugglers, dancers, singers (no lip synching), karate demos, gymnastic routines, musical instrument performances, jump rope acts, hula hoop routines, skits, Broadway Show acts, etc.  Almost anything goes!

Variety Show information

All Chestnutwold students may participate in the Variety Show.  All participating students are required to attend one of two scheduled after school rehearsal dates.  These rehearsals are important so the student can showcase their talents and get a feel for participating in front of a group and being “on stage”.   It is very important that the routines are arranged  before the rehearsal.  The rehearsals  are also required so that each act and any music used can be reviewed to make sure it is appropriate for our elementary school audience.  The after school rehearsals will be held on Wednesday,  January 25, 2012 and Thursday, January 26, 2012, at 3:30, in the Chestnutwold Gym.  Again, participating students  are only required to attend one of these after school rehearsals.  There will  be a Mandatory Variety Show Full Dress Rehearsal on Thursday, March 8, 2012, time TBD.

All 5th graders are invited to be announcers and stage help at the show.  More information will follow as we get closer to the show date.

Students are allowed to participate in 1 group act and 1 solo act.  School sponsored acts (i.e. dance club) do not count towards your group act.  Each performance is limited to two minutes.  Unfortunately, due to the large number of acts we have there can be NO EXCEPTIONS to this rule.  It is OK if your music on the CD is longer than two minutes.  But, please realize that the music will fade out at the two minute mark so plan your routine for no longer than two minutes.

Please bring a copy of your music to the first rehearsal on a CD that we can keep.  If you are downloading music, please make sure the music is able to be played on a commercial CD player.   We had many instances at rehearsals last year where music downloads to CDs were not compatible causing great delays in between acts.  Parents, it is also very important that you review the music lyrics to the song your child chooses to make sure it is appropriate for elementary school audiences.
